What does a naval flight officer do?

Naval flight officer (NFO) is an authorized officer trained in advanced weapons and other systems for the US Navy or Marine Corp. This is particularly important in potential combat situations; Since there are no flight duties, the naval flight officer is able to realize the battlefield more, allowing him to lead. In their pilots, both pilots and NFOs can hold leadership positions, such operations or maintenance.

Although naval flight officers do not have complete training to allow them to fly by plane, they are thoroughly trained in basic pilot techniques on double control aircraft. Some naval aircraft are designed with the side of the seating to allow dual pilot operation by pilot and NFO. Aviators and NFOs are subject to most of the same physical training and basic aviation courses.

battalions and 2.Stub, report to the Pensacola naval station and accept the air indoctrination of pre -films (API). API is an educational program on air foundations. The course in this six -day program includes all aspects of flight, including classes in such topics such as aerodynamics, aircraft engines, navigation and meteorology. As API students, NFOs, like pilots, have to undergo strenuous physical training to prepare them to endure the rigidity of the flight on board martial crafts such as the F/A-18 Hornets and the EA-6B prowlers.

After successful completion of the API, candidates for maritime flights in Pension for primary flight training remain. After completing this training, the NFO can choose an assignment to the aircraft that is controlled by jet or propeller, and then start the other dams of flight training. The next step in the training allows NFO to become even more qualified in flight and navigation. NFOS then selects the type of aircraft in which they want to specialize.

more advanced training is governed by the type of aircraft thatchose NFO. Advanced flight training is the last step towards accepting the NFO wings and reporting messages to a fleet fleet (FRS) for further training on the selected aircraft. FRS are in mind the new NFO to operate their aircraft systems in any mission in which it could be used. After graduation from FRS training, a naval flight officer is a certified fleet.
