How Do Experts Calculate Life Expectancy?
The median life expectancy is the number of years it takes for a group of people who have reached the age of X to halve. The median life expectancy can be calculated for any age. For example, if the number of survivors at the age of 50 in the life table is 150 = 90,000, and the number of survivors at the age of 76 is 176 = 45,000, the median life expectancy at 50 years is V50 = 76-50 = 26 years. The median life expectancy of the 0-year-old group is of special significance. It shows that a group of people born will have only half of their age. This indicator is also called the most probable life or simply the most probable life in demography. [1]
