Thyroid storms are triggered by bacterial infections, sepsis, severe trauma, dehydration, heart failure, diabetes, and ketoacidosis. Thyroid storm usually comes suddenly and progresses rapidly. At first, patients may have temperature rise, diarrhea, hepatomegaly and jaundice, arrhythmia (especially atrial fibrillation), emotional irritability, hands shaking, and even mental disorders. Expressions, stiffness, and even coma; while the skin feels smooth and moist, even hot and flushed; patients may die due to arrhythmia or heart failure, so timely recognition and appropriate treatment can save patients' lives.
