What is the Schaatzki Ring?

Skatzki ring, also known as the Schaatzki-Gary ring, is the narrowing of the lower part of the esophagus-well tube through which the food passes into the stomach. Schaatzki Ring is named after Robert Schaatzki, a radiologist who first characterized him. The cause of the Schaatzki rings was not fixed. However, some doctors believe that this is caused by long-term damage to the stomach acid or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)-a conflict in which stomach fluids shoot into the esophagus, ignite and damage its lining. Treatment of the Skhatzki ring involves breaking with endoscope, enlargement by the dilator or expansion with a special balloon.

Usually Schaatzki Circle does not light any symptoms. However, awareness is usually triggered by poorly chewed food that is stuck in the esophagus, because the patient would therefore have chest pain or have difficulty swallowing - known as dysphagia. This might cause the patient to get a finger in the back of his neck to rest the food again - that is to make it eject itl through the mouth.

Usually the ring is diagnosed by a physician by serving an X -ray examination of barya or endoscopy. Barya X -ray examination is a medical imaging procedure used to explore the gastrointestinal tract, which includes esophagus and stomach. Since these tests may sometimes be missing rings, it is a better diagnostic method of esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) or endoscopy. Endoscopy visualizes the gastrointestinal tract from the esophagus, which is attached to one end of the stomach, with a duodenum - the upper part of the small intestine, which connects to the other end of the stomach.

Na rozdíl od rentgenového testu barya je endoskopie invazivním postupem, který zahrnuje vložení endoskopu-nástroj používaný pro zkoumání inTerior tělesného orgánu - ústy pacienta do jícnu. This is particularly useful for patients who cannot regurgit or swallow food so obstruction can end as possible as possibleearlier to prevent further chest pain and other complications. During such a diagnosis, the doctor may use an endoscope to check other health conditions such as cancer and esophagitis.

Skatzki Ring Treatment involves stretching or breaking with endoscope, allowing food to move freely. However, the use of an endoscope is not the only tool used. Taper dilators can be used to enlarge the esophagus passage. Similarly, defined balloons can be placed over the Schaatzki ring and then inflate to expand it. In the most extreme cases, open surgery may be used, although such an occurrence is extremely rare.
