What are spherical bacteria?
spherical bacteria are a group of bacteria characterized by spherical shape, although it sometimes seems to be stretched or flat on one side. This group represents one of the three morphologies in which these organisms are structured, the other two are bar bacteria and spiral bacteria. Individually, spherical bacteria are known as coccus, together as cocci and as a class coccoid. The most common samples of spherical bacteria are Staphylococcus and Streptococcus, which are able to form long chains. Mohou také prosperovat v různých prostředích, včetně velmi extrémních podmínek. However, spherical bacteria are unique because they can exist uniquely or in pairs, the other are referred to as diploccines. They can also create chains of four (tetracocci), groups of eight or more (sarcinae), or are arranged in clusters (staphylococci).
In addition to the shape, the bacteria are classified according to the cell wall structure. Specifically a distinction between a plasma membraneby a wound or plasma membrane with an external membrane. The structure is determined by injection of iodine dye in the test known as gram stains. Bacterial cells that retain the purple spot are considered a gram positive. Spherical bacteria belong to this classification.
spherical bacteria may occur as aerobic or anaerobic organisms, labels that indicate whether oxygen is needed to survive. Because they are positive, this type of bacteria resists heat or drying. This is because they have stronger cell walls than other groups of bacteria. Unfortunately, this aspect offers some tribes of spherical defense bacteria against attacking and destroying the body's immune system.
Staphylococcus is located on the skin and mucous membranes. While most species of this genus are completely harmless, some produce toxins that lead to illness. For example, food poisoning can be accused of this species. StaphylcoCCUS aureus is associated with toxic shock syndrome, S. epidermidis with urinary tract infections and Staphylococcus aureus resistant to methicillin (MRSA) is a particularly robust species transmitted to hospital departments. This type of bacteria is also a culprit for gonorrhea.
Streptococcus is also on the skin, as in the mouth and intestinal tract. The species belonging to this class of spherical bacteria is associated with pneumonia, endocarditis and meningitis. Since S. Viridans is found in the mouth, most of the dental abscesses are on the blame. In addition, S. Agalactiae infects approximately one third of women in their birth years and can be handed over to infants during pregnancy.
