1. Apnea
Means that the nasal airflow is completely stopped for 10 seconds or more;
Terminology: The airway is approximately 100% blocked. Blood oxygen drop
2. Hypopnea
Refers to a decrease in airflow of greater than or equal to 50% for more than 10 seconds, accompanied by a decrease of 3% in SaO2 (blood oxygen saturation) or slight awakening.
