What are the palatine almonds?

Although there are several types of almonds behind the cavity in the mouth, palatine almonds are two most visible and can be seen on the right and left side of the neck. These almonds are small, almond materials of lymphatic tissue that protrude from both sides of oral pharynx and are covered with small pits. They are considered one of the many defensive mechanisms of the body that protect the respiratory and digestive tracts from infection. These almonds are two of the largest and most famous in the Tonsillar ring, and most of the time are small weights of lymphoid tissue, mucous membranes, veins and nerves. They also have small pits that are often referred to as crypts. These crypts are actually small pockets lined with epithelium, which often collect residues such as food or mucus particles. Mature tonsillar B-lymphocytes (B-cells) produce five classes of antibodies that can help protect from things like Staphylococcus aureus and diphtheria. They also help capture bacteria and allow the body to create a anti -milestonek to help kill invasive bacteria. In addition to being immune booster, almonds also work as a team with other lymphoid tissues that help process and circulate lymphatic fluid.

Sometimes the amount of bacteria that enter the body exceeds palatine almonds that often lead to infection. Acute tonsillitis is one of the most common diseases that affect this organ, and is generally recognizable in appearance of a bright red, enlarged almonds that can be covered with small yellow or white spots. Sometimes it is also accompanied by sore throat and high fever. Recurrent or chronic tonsillitis is similar in symptoms, but is categorized according to the frequency and duration of these symptoms. In general, it is defined as three episodes per year for three consecutive years, five episodes in two consecutive years or four to seven episodes in one year.

palatine mAndle can also become victims of atrophy and cancer. Tonsillary hypertrophy is an enlargement of tonsils without a history of tonsillitis and can cause sleep disorders, pain and swallowing problems. Almond cancer is unusual, but sometimes it occurs in those who have been exposed to the virus of human papilloma (HPV) or the virus of human immunodeficiency (HIV).
