What is pericyt?
Pericyte, which is not to be confused with the homonym parasites, is a kind of hybrid human cell, partly nervous and partial vascular. It is a type of nerve cell, which is primarily found to pack and protect the vascular blood vessels of the brain. One of his most important functions is the agent of the so-called "blood-chlupation barrier". These cells prevent the release of some toxic chemicals and foreign organisms on blood into sensitive brain tissue. Yours also have other, equally important functions and believe that they are critical keys to understand the cause and possible treatment of certain brain diseases.
The term is derived from the Greek peri for "around" and cyte for "cell". The cell is the smallest separate unit of life. Multi-cell organisms such as humans are composed of many different types of cells organized as systems that depend on other systems to maintain their lives. Defining characteristics of pericytes is that they are firmly motivated around the outer wall of the youngAnniversary blood vessels, called capillaries. They are particularly prevalent in the brain, but are found on blood vessels that nourish many other nerve cells of the body with oxygen and nutrients.
Pericyte grabs its tubular container using ring projections. This shape also allows cells to interconnect each other. The type of cells that form the wall of the blood vessels is called endothelial cells. Although there is a thin layer of connective tissue called the basement membrane, the pericytes are in direct contact with endothelial cells. The primary media of communication to cells is signaling chemicals called integrins.
The walls of the blood vessels are permeable, designed to allow oxygen and selectively large molecules such as sugars, pass through them. All cells of the human body, including Brain cells, need this offer. Unfortunately, blood is also a transport of choice for substances and organismsy potentially harmful to fine stable brain chemistry. Its network of blood vessels requires another degree of selectivity in what its vascular walls can escape. This became popularly called the blood barrier-chracent barrier.
Pericyte, which closes the blood vessels of the brain, is the first defense line of this barrier. They can withdraw, both reduce blood flow inside the capillary and also close the gaps in the wall, through which large chemical molecules would otherwise pass. In behavior usually associated with predatory immune cells in human blood, these versatile cells have another ability to absorb and spend foreign particles such as dead cells. Endothelial cells of blood vessels, similar to skin, are regenerative and pericytes are expected to participate in chemical control of their growth. They also indicate embryonic properties that are able to turn into other completely different cell types as needed such as smooth muscle cells, also called wall cells.
abnormalities were withbound with some diseases. For example, hemangiopecetoma is a rare form of cancer caused by an excess of pericytes strangled by abnormally formed blood vessels. Diabetic retinopathy, a common complication of diabetes of the disease that results in a loss of vision, was found to be caused by insufficiency of pericytes to protect capillaries in the human eye. It is believed that many degenerative brain diseases such as Alzheimer and multiple sclerosis are assumed that they are fundamentally starting to loss of pericytes and the resulting violation of the bloody threshing barrier.
