Palate

The mandibles (singular mandible) are a pair of hard, tapered structures located behind the upper lip. The front end has incisor lobe to cut and tear food, and the rear has molar lobe to grind food.
The upper jaw has a powerful adductor and a smaller abductor. The contraction of the two muscles allows the upper jaw to move left and right. The palate is generally not completely symmetrical.
