- The so-called channel is the channel for digital television program transmission. According to the different channels, digital TV boxes can be mainly divided into wired wire digital TV boxes, satellite TV digital TV boxes, and terrestrial TV digital TV boxes.
- The digital cable box is used to receive cable television (commonly known as closed circuit). The domestic cable television standard uses the European DVB-C standard, so it is also called DVB-C digital video box. However, cable television is generally encrypted, so the issue of decryption must be considered when purchasing a DVB-C digital video box.
- The satellite TV digital video box is used to receive satellite TV. In addition to the digital TV box, a satellite receiving antenna (commonly known as a pot) is also required. According to different satellite systems, it is divided into DVB-S digital video box, DVB-S2 digital video box, ABS digital video box and so on.
- The terrestrial television digital video box is used to receive terrestrial television (commonly known as wireless television) and also needs to be equipped with an antenna. According to different terrestrial transmission standards, it is divided into DVB-T digital video box and DMB-T / H digital video box.
- According to the different digital TV box and computer interface, it is mainly divided into USB digital video box, IP digital video box, PCI digital video box and so on.
- The PCI digital video box is the earliest digital TV box. It forwards the TS to the PC through the PCI bus. Because the PCI slot is located on the PC motherboard, it can only be built into the computer case. For desktop users, the use of PCI digital video is also more convenient, and the price is relatively cheaper.
- After the popularization of the USB2.0 interface, a USB digital video box came out soon, and it forwarded the TS to the PC through the USB interface. The USB digital video box can be used as a mobile peripheral of a computer or notebook, which greatly facilitates the use of the user. But because the USB extension cable is generally 1 ~ 2 meters, the digital TV box and computer are required to be closer to the TV signal. For users, a digital TV box, a TV signal cable, and a USB extension cable need to be added to the desktop. Generally, it can be powered by USB. If the TV box cannot be powered by USB, an additional power cord must be added.
- The IP video box forwards the TS to the PC through the network port, which can be directly connected to the computer or connected to a router / switch to achieve TV sharing. When connected to a router / switch, the user experience of the IP video box is very good. As long as the digital TV box is connected to the router / switch, users don't need to worry about it, just turn on the computer and watch TV as long as they can connect to the network. When the user is not watching TV, the IP video box can also automatically sleep. For notebook users, you can also watch TV programs through wireless WIFI. The following figure very vividly depicts the use of IP digital video box.

In the analog TV era, a large number of USB digital video boxes and PCI digital video boxes are widely used, and the price is not expensive. Digital TV boxes with IP interfaces have just come out. It is more convenient to use than USB and PCI, but the price is currently higher.
