What is orthophoto?

Orthophoto is an undisclosed air photo with a completely uniform scale that allows it to function as a map. To achieve this high level of uniformity, a significant amount of geometric correction is required, known as orthodication. Orthofoto is effective because, like the picture, it is highly detailed, but is also uniform, such as the map. In many cases, map functions such as road lines and various brands for specific buildings are overlapped in such photography, which increases its efficiency as a map. Many different methods of correction are used to produce orthophotos; Some include manual handling of the film, while other more common methods use computer systems for geometric correction.

Optical methods of orthophotos handling were almost completely replaced by digital methods, as powerful computers have become much more accessible, more comfortable and more affordable. While a significant amount of human work still required to create a particularly good ortOfotor, powerful computer programs and algorithms have automated a lot of process. This level of automation significantly reduces costs and increases the orthophoto production efficiency.

orthofoto is particularly better than normal air photography because it can be directly used for measurement. All lens distortion is repaired, as well as the slope of the camera as a whole. Topographic relief is also corrected - distances across the valley, mountains and other distortion in the landscape are modified, so the height is considered to be a calculation of the distance. For example, if one attempted to measure the distance between two points in aircraft photography, it would measure the wrong distance if significant changes in altitude were present between the two points. Such distances on the height are corrected in orthophotos, so such measurements can be done without the need for a real map if the photo scale is known.

Errors can enter the process inOrthophoto ýbes at almost any stage. While most are completely harmless and corrective, others may actually affect the usability of orthophotot. Sometimes they can cause the photo to distort photography of the natural environment, such as reflection from the surface of the water body. In some cases, they are only aesthetically ill, while in others they can lead to difficulty in the geometric correction of air photography. Human mistakes can also cause problems; They can move from scratches of lens or film to incorrectly performing digital handling of photo.
