What is a absorbing virtual reality?

Immersive virtual reality is sometimes a vague concept that is used in different contexts. The widest definition is that the absorbing virtual reality is a system in which one feels as if it was indeed inside the virtual environment and has become separated from the real physical world. Theoretically, this would include the stimulation of all normal senses in response to actions received in the virtual world. More practical can be used for an experience that includes the location of a person in a three -dimensional (3D) environment that attempts to create an experience that is fully humiliating, though largely visual. The technology for creating a real absorbing virtual reality has not yet existed since 2011, although many systems have been invented to visually represent a situation that mimics the real presence in the virtual environment.

There are two ways to experience the absorbing virtual reality. The first is the use of the display mounted on the head (HMD) that covers the eyes the viewer and fills inprimary and peripheral vision areas of images of virtual environment. HMD also responds to head movements, allowing natural visual examination of the environment.

The second method is to create a cube or closed space with five or six walls that are actually projection surfaces or displays. The person is then located inside the cube that constantly projects images of the virtual environment on each surface, giving the appearance of being inside the digital world. However, these systems are very expensive and there are very few of them in 2011.

There are other absorbing hardware devices of virtual reality that try to simulate a realistic experience with one or more senses. There are haptic systems that provide real physical feedback in response to events in the virtual world. These can be gloves that produce pressure when touched by a virtual object or harnesses thatThey can vibrate or create other feelings on the body. Some very basic systems have also been created that try to simulate odors with a combination of different chemicals.

The more accurate use of the term "absorbing virtual reality" is to refer to the technological goal that has not been achieved yet. This goal would be to find a way to completely imitate all aspects of interaction in a completely virtual world. If successful, it would include a user who has such a credible experience that he would respond psychologically and physically to the situation as if it were real. A system like this would have to be able to simulate every little detail, such as the heat of the sun on the skin or air that blows the hair on the head so that it would be so convincing that it is indistinguishable from reality.
