What are group emotions?

Group emotions is a term used to describe the overall emotional state of the group that emerges and affects the emotional states of the individuals who make up the group. This form of emotions is often studied in sociology and psychology because of its importance in group dynamics and its effect on the emotional states of individuals. It is also interested in studying and education, as effective management of group emotions can significantly increase the efficiency of the group in a given task and group's ability to acquire new skills and knowledge.

Two primary aspects tend to control possible ways of exploring the phenomenon of group emotions: from top to bottom and bottom -up views. The approach from the top down emphasizes the impact that has the emotional status of the group on individual members of the group. Group emotions can strongly intensify and change personal emotions, especially in cohesive groups with goals important for individuals. May also set social restrictions that reduce the presence or at least the expression of certain emotions that are not in the soulADU with the emotion of the group. Similarities and differences in the emotions of group members can be used to assess the cohesion of the group as a whole.

bottom -up approach focuses on how the emotions of individual group members affect the emotional state of the group as a whole. Studies based on this approach tend to examine how individual aspects of emotions, including emotional maturity, changing moods and personal values, tend to result in a group's emotions that affect all members of the group. Another important aspect of this view is the emotional effects of those who have drastically different emotional behavior than the "group average". A truly complex study of emotions depicted by a group must include both accessories from top and bottom to top.

Group emotions are often studied in relation to leadership. Many leadership theories are based directly or indirectly on the idea that leading skills should to some extent ZHromn the ability to manipulate the emotions of the group. Natural leaders can be able to do this simply because of the inner aspects of their personalities, while others have to learn specific management techniques that allow them to manipulate the emotions of the group. In addition, the emotions of the group are often influenced by the emotions of the leader more than the emotions of other individual members.
