What is an accumulation conveyor?

The accumulation conveyor is a mechanism of specialized transport of material that is used in applications where goods require a transport route in the queue or accumulation at some point. In most respects, like a conventional cylindrical conveyor, the accumulation conveyor differs in that it includes mechanisms that allow the conveyor parts to slow down or stop the goods at that point. This is usually achieved by distributing the conveyor into short, individually driven sections, which include sensors and power clutches that allow you to run individual sections, slow down or stop as you will. This feature is commonly used in situations where palette, sorting or recording operations require that goods on the conveyor are accumulated rather than constantly flowing.
