What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is part of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), which includes sticking solid, fine needles into the body at specific points. This procedure is designed to release blocked energy and solve imbalances in the body, which can cause poor health, and has been used in China for thousands of years. In the West, acupuncture is a relatively recent introduction to the medical library, but its popularity grew rapidly. When the male and female aspects of the body, known as yin and yang , is equilibrium, qi is in balance and will smoothly flow through the body along the meridians of power. When someone is unhealthy, it suggests that there is an obstacle or imbalance that must be repaired. TCM practicing talks to the patient about the situation and may decide to use acupuncture, including modality, for treatment.

During the acupuncture session, the patient lies on the table treated to the height of the practitioner. Depending on where the needles are inserted, the patient may be fully dressed or asked to undress and wrap the substances formodesty. The acupuncture needles are inserted into different body points at angles ranging from 15 degrees with respect to the skin up to 90 degrees, depending on the judgment of the practitioner. After insertion, the needles can be handled manually in the movement of twisting, gently vibration, heated, cooled or electrified by fine stream to stimulate Meridian.

After the session, the patient may feel highly relaxed or refreshed - results differ greatly depending on the session. The basic cause of the problem could be solved by itself, or it may take several acupuncture sessions to completely eradicate it. The session should not be painful, and if it is placed correctly, the needles do not cause bruises or bleeding. To make sure you have a productive acupuncture session, it is recommended to find a certified acupuncturist who attended the TCM school.

studies conducted on acupuncture in the West suggest that this can help relieve pain, headaches, treat nerve conditions, alleviate asthma and solve nausea and vomiting. It is also useful for conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, back pain, convulsions, fibromyalgia and arthritis pain. The World Health Organization recommends acupuncture to help with stress, abuse of addictive substances and allergies. In general, acupuncture is used as a complementary form of medicine and is combined with other treatments for maximum efficiency.
