What is Lentinan?

Lentinan is a herbal remedy derived from the Japanese mushroom Shiitake, scientifically known as Lento Edodes . The fungus is a fungal growth or a fruiting body that usually occurs on the bark of broadband trees and usually has a light-muber-colored trunk and frog. It is a popular component in Asian food and traditional Chinese medicine. It is generally used to increase the immune system and to alleviate cancer symptoms. It is a water -soluble polysaccharide that has a triple helix structure. The favorable properties of the molecule are generally reduced when the structure of the polysaccharides is deformed, usually from the thermal exposure. Cells also difficult to absorb polysaccharide from the body quickly metabolizes. This reduces the potential health benefits of food prepared with shiitake mushrooms as well as oral supplements that contain a shiitake sponge. The extract is generally prepared as a solution and is injected directly into the bloodstream to increase cellular absorption. Intravenous (IV) Line is used to feed a lens dose, oBeskler between 2 and 10 milligrams per week, to treat individuals with cancer and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

Laboratory experiments have revealed that lentinan reduces the growth of some cancer cells and may even cause cancer cell death. Other experiments with lentinin suggest that it increases immune cell activity such as T-cells, cytokines, monocytes and tumor necrosis factor. It has been found that an increased immune response prevents some types of bacteria and viruses, including the Staphylococcus Aureus and Vesicular Stomatitis virus.

with intravenous use of extracts obtained from the fungus of Shiitake there are several reported side effects. The most serious conditions include anaphylaxis, which is an extreme allergic reaction, and granulocytopenia, a decrease in the type of white blood cells used to combat infections. This generally leads to chronic bacterial infections of the skin, lungs and neck. Increased abortBlood enzymes are another side effect in the intravenous use of Shiitake extract. Contact dermatitis is a concern associated with shiitake fungi, but it is usually a problem for manufacturing staff who are exposed to a large amount of fungus.
