What is prophylaxis after exposure?

Conventional wisdom suggests that the best way to prevent disease is to minimize exposure or immunization before potential exposure. Not all diseases have vaccines that prevent them from them, and sometimes the exposure cannot be minimized. For certain conditions, there is a second front part of treatment called prophylaxis or PEP. Treatments falling into this category may be administered after exposure, but before the disease occurred. We hope to prevent illness, after exposure, with treatment. Those who have ever received an open blow and had a tetanus shot in treatment. Another example was particularly important in 2009, when people got vaccination against H1N1 after they were in contact with someone who was ill with the disease, which significantly reduced the number of cases. Sometimes people who have not received other second -grip shots get one when they are aware that they have come into contact with someone with the flu. This can be the result of unprotected sex or needle in the medical environment. Now there is a prophylaxic PRotocol after exposure, including the use of antiviral drugs for several months. This can very often prevent HIV contraction, although it does not always work.

Another disease that could indicate the use of prophylaxis after exposure include hepatitis B. This has become less common because hepatitis B vaccines are now part of a regular children's vaccine schedule. PEP would still be recommended for people with autoimmune conditions or who did not receive shots as children.

PEP also has a very useful thing in the treatment of rabies exposure. Almost all people who know or suspect that they have received an exhibition have a total of five firing rabies that practically always prevent illness if they are listed in a certain time window. Fortunately, these shots have improved. People can remember the nightmares of the stories of shots that were given in the stomach and which hurts very badly. Today's shots areIn the case of the muscles in the shoulder, and although they are still unpleasant, they prevent death from devastating illnesses.

Another form of PEP, which can precisely redirect greater controversy, does not prevent the disease. Instead, it can prevent conception. In the morning after the pill, after the facts of contraception, it is that when it is taken shortly after sexual intercourse, it can reduce changes in pregnancy. It is not an abortifent and it is unlikely that this would result in the death of an egg that is already implanted. Another method that has been practiced to some extent and is still practiced by D&C, usually then raped.
