What are Katahdin sheep?

Katahdin Sheep is a breed of sheep developed in the United States by farmer Maine Michael Piel in the 1950s. Piel imported a small number of durable sheep with hair shed from the virgin islands to behave with some of his own sheep. After crossing these sheep for 20 years, Piel with Katahdin sheep came, which is named for Mount Katahdin in Maine.
