What is the definiton of life?

Definition of life, albeit at first glance on easy design, will prove to be incredibly difficult. Each proposed definition of life suffers from one of two problems: the definition is wide enough, that it allows things to generally accept as inanimate to be defined as living; Or it is so specific that more exotic forms of life should appear, it may not be a classic view.
