How much energy does the sun generate?

Our sun pumps about 386 billion million million gigawatts into space, mostly in the form of electromagnetic radiation. By comparison, the large nuclear reactor generates about 1 Gigawatt and the global energy consumption is several thousand gigawatts. This energy performance is typical of a star in the same class as our Sun.

Before the discovery of nuclear energy, scientists introduced the sun as balls of magnificent matters. Because the sun is so large, it could theoretically consist of conventional mass in a state of combustion - but this burning could only take a few tens of thousands of years to exhaust the matter completely. Today we know that the sun is driven by nuclear energy. It has been speculated that the period of reduced sunspot activity in the 17th century, a minimum of Maunder, could be responsible for the period of rejected heat in Europe called the Little Ice Age. It was also theorized that the energy performance of the sun increased by about 40%from the formation of the solar system.
