What is the main belt?

The main belt is a large assembly of asteroids in what is called the "asteroid belt", which exists between the planets Mars and Jupiter in the Earth's solar system. This belt is made of hundreds of thousands of asteroids, which are very different and are assumed that it was created in one of two ways. It was once believed that these different asteroids exist as an early planet or a protoplanet that was destroyed by a collision with an asteroid, although modern theories claim that rocks are the remaining things of the solar system. While some asteroids are relatively large, many objects are only dust particles floating in space. The massive size of the main belt also means that its composition is primary formed by empty space, with most asteroids very far apart. However, precipitation between asteroids is possible. There are many comets, which also travel on this belt.

There are two basic theoriesconcerning the formation of the main belt in the Earth's solar system. The first theory, which was largely abandoned, was that the protoplanet began to form in the solar system between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. While it was formed, the protoplanet influenced a large asteroid or other object and destroyed it with such a huge force that its remains were dispersed throughout the region that became the main belt. However, the relatively low weight of different objects throughout the belt makes such a formation unlikely, and the energy released in such destruction would leave a permanent impression on the solar system.

Today is the preferred theory of creating the main belt that various objects remain from the formation of the solar system. Jupiter's tremendous matter develops sufficient gravitational power to prevent the planet from preventing this matter. These early rocks and particles would be assumed by orbit around the Sun, similar to the planets, but they could not create together into the planet. The low weight of the belt supports this theory as wellKO type of matter found between different asteroids that indicate separate bodies that have never been part of one planet.
