It has a passenger handling capacity of 5 million people a year. The Guilin airport services 5 international air routes to Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, Thailand and Korea. Domestic cities with direct flights to Guilin are Beijing, Shenzhen, Huangshan, Xi'an, Zhuhai, Macau, Nanning, Chongqing, Ningbo, Chengdu, Tianjin, Wenzhou, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Beihai, Urumqi, Shantou, Xiamen, Haikou, Fuzhou, Guangzhou, Zhengzhou, Kunming, Guiyan, Changsha, Dalian, Hefei, Wuhan, Jinan. The Guilin South Railway Station is located to the south of the city center and it is also more conveniently situated than the North Station. The North Station is situated in the suburbs of the city and has less convenient links with the center. Guilin's major train routes link it with Anhui, Beijing, Chongqing, Fujian, Guangdong, Guizhou, Hebei, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Shaanxi, and Shanghai, Sichuan and Zhejiang. International trains from Beijing to Hanoi, Vietnam, pass Guilin twice a week, so do the trains from Hanoi to Beijing. It is not easy to buy sleeper tickets at the Guilin sales office, as the city is a mid-route stop rather than a terminus. Therefore it is best to make reservations 5 days in advance or even 10 days earlier during China's National Holidays. City to City Bus
Long-distance sleeper coaches run between provincial cities like Beihai, Nanning, Wuzhou, Yulin, etc, and cities in the Pearl River Delta such as Dongguan, Guangzhou, Jiangmen, Panyu, Shunde, Zhongshan and Zhuhai, Puning, Shantou and Zhanjiang in Guangdong Province, Changsha in Hunan Province, Wuhan in Hubei Province, Fuzhou in Fujian Province and Sanya in Hainan Province and more. There are three bus stations: the Chief Bus Station, Chengnan Bus Station and Beimen Bus Station. The Chief Bus Station is at No. 427 Zhongshan Nan Road, a 10 minutes walk from the railway station in the north. Most buses set off from this station to surrounding cities in Guangxi, Guangdong and Hunan provinces. To & From Yangshuo
Express buses depart from the Guilin Xiangzhou bus terminal off Zhongshan Nan Road, several hundred metres north of the railway station, and on the same side of the road as the station. Buses depart about every half hour from 7 am. Tickets can be purchased at the counters in the bus terminal.
Water conveyances from Guilin mainly along Xiangjiang River and Li River lead to the ports of Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macau.
Public Buses As a developed tourism city, Guilin boasts convenient transportation. Getting a local map is a good idea.
Most buses charge RMB 1 - RMB 2 but without air conditioning. The No. 99 Bus from North end to South end of the city is air conditioned, charging RMB 2. The buses run begin from 6 am to 7 am in the morning until 6 pm to 9.30 pm in the evening. Taxi Taxis are relatively inexpensive and can be found 24 hours a day. Taxies are mostly Jetta, Santana or Citron. Taxi fare for daytime (6.30 am to 11 pm) starts from RMB 6 - RMB 7 for the first 2 kilometers (1.24 miles), RMB 1.4 - RMB 1.6 per kilometer over 2 km to less than 4 km (2.48 miles) and RMB 2 for each additional kilometer (0.62 mile) thereafter. For nighttime (11 pm to 6.30 am the next morning), the flag fair is RMB 7.8, RMB 1.8 per kilometer for 2 km to less than 4 km and RMB 2.4 per kilometer from 4 km. The per km cost (after the flag falls) is displayed on a sticker on the right front window. The price difference depends on the type of the taxi. The charge of Jetta and Santana is slightly higher than Xiali and Lada. Most taxies are air-conditioned and provide service 24 hours per day. Motor Tricycle Motor tricycle is also a handy choice and can be bargained. For trip in the city, the first offered price is RMB 5. Bicycle The best way to get around in Guilin for those who are more energetic is by bike. Bicycles can be rented by the day throughout Guilin for a maximum of RMB 15 - RMB 20 in Guilin and a deposit of around RMB 200 could be required. Using a bicycle to enjoy the city scenery is another option. Bicycles can be rented at most hotels and traffic trunks. The charge is either by the hour or the day depending on the hours. The daily rate is approximately RMB 15. Cruise Ship guilin- Yangshuo As it is situated on the world-renowned Li River; Guilin thus has a special means of transport - cruise ships from downtown to Yangshuo. The ships usually set off at 9 am and will take about seven to eight hours to complete the journey. A gentle breeze will caress your face; picture postcard riverside scenery will please your eyes as life become so beautiful here. However, remember that in winter since the water level at that time is rather low, the cruise is limited to just 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) instead of the normal 82 kilometers (50.95 miles)
