What Does a Taxonomist Do?

Liu Dezeng (1936) was born in Hezhongmen Xizhong Street, Beijing. He graduated from Tianjin No.1 Middle School from 1951 to 1957. From 1957 to 1963, he graduated in animal cell and genetics from Peking University. He is a researcher at the Institute of Nature and Ecology of Heilongjiang Academy of Sciences. He has received funding from the National and Provincial Natural Science Foundation for many times. He has discovered 10 new species of animals, published more than 30 zoological articles such as national journals, and a monograph on "China Freshwater Turtle". Seven sections of Chinese martial arts, a national first-class social sports instructor, a master of Taijiquan. Research and published dozens of papers on martial arts, Taijiquan, and health.

(It is reported that Liu Dezeng collected 2,000 papers of Plana worms at home and abroad in the past century; collected 492 cold springs across the country, found 10 new species of Plana worms, and published multiple papers of Plana worm.
