Choroidal fissure cyst is a neuroepithelial cyst, which is formed when a primitive choroid plexus forms along the choroid fissure during fetal development.
Choroid cysts, CT and MRI horizontal planes often mistake this disease as a temporal lobe cyst, causing unnecessary panic to the patient. MRI coronary and sagittal planes can show the characteristic manifestations of the disease.
Choroid plexus cyst (CPC): The choroid is located in the lateral ventricle, the third ventricle, and the fourth ventricle, and is the place where cerebrospinal fluid is produced. CPC is a cyst in the choroid plexus. At present, it is thought that the cause is a wrinkle of the neuroepithelium in the choroid, which contains cerebrospinal fluid and cell debris, which can be single or multiple. For example, blocking the cerebrospinal fluid circulation can cause ventricular dilatation.
CPC normal fetuses can appear transiently, but mostly disappear at 20 weeks. The sonogram shows a circular or oval echo-free structure in the choroid plexus with homogeneous strong echo. A diagnosis of more than 1 cm in diameter found after 18 weeks should be considered.
Simple CPC disappears in late pregnancy, and most of them are not associated with abnormalities in other parts. If combined with other abnormalities, especially multiple malformations, the chance of chromosomal abnormalities is high, including trisomy 18 and trisomy 21.
