What is a trimalar fracture?
trimalleolar fracture is a type of ankle. On the inside of the ankle is the lower end of the shin or tibia or tibia bones of the knob bone called media malleolus. The thinner bone known as the fibula runs from the outside of the lower leg and at the end it forms a wound called lateral Malleolus. The rear Malleolus, or the third Malleolus, consists of the lip of the bone at the back of the lower end of the tibia. When the ankle fracture includes all three Malleoli, it is known as a trimalleolar fracture and surgery is usually necessary to repair broken bones together at recovery. They can also occur as a result of a traffic accident, along with other lower leg injuries. As a number of different bones, they form an ankle joint, the severity of the broken ankle can range from the crack in one bone to breaking in several bones, sometimes piercing. Symptoms of pain, swelling, bruises and deformities and ankle may not carry weight.
If these symptoms are recorded when examining potentially interrupted anchor bones, fractures may be suspected. X -rays can then be made to provide an accurate diagnosis. In some cases, only medium or side Malleolus may be broken. If the bones are not too far in place and the fracture is considered stable, which means that it will remain in place when the bones are equalized, the operation does not have to be necessary and treatment can consist of cast or splint. In the case of trimalar fractures or bimallleolar fractures, where medium and lateral minor malleoli break, injury is usually unstable and usually necessary surgery.
Surgical treatment of trimalleolar fracture generally involves the use of a combination of metal plates and screws or wires that hold the broken bones to align at recovery. It is not possible for the ankle to carry the weight until the broken bones are firmly connected, and it can take up to four months. During this period MOHOU be taken from X -rays to check that the bones have not moved from the place. Once the ankle can be moved, the exercise program can be recommended to strengthen the muscles around the joint.
