What is the sound of Hypersonic®?
Hypersonic® Sound (HSS®) is a sound technology that uses interaction between ultrasonic waves and air to generate sound sound. Radically different from traditional speakers, HSS® devices generate sound indirectly, so they do not suffer from many types of distortion found in other devices. Hypersonic® sound can also be used to target a very specific area, just like the reflector concentrates the light in the narrow beam. This technology was invented by the Elwood "Woody" Norris from the American Technology Corporation, but tried to find the market.
Traditional speakers generate the sound of vibration of solid material that creates waves of pressure that travels through the air. Hypersonic® sounds a completely different approach and emits ultrasonic tones that the human ear can not hear. These ultrasonic tones turn the sound in the air molecules themselves. This is possible because the air has a non -linear property, which means that the sound tones of both lower and higher frequencies can be made when air interacts with sound. UlttTherefore, the folding tones can generate audible frequencies when they come into contact with air molecules.
Because HSS® emitters do not create sound waves directly, they have several advantages over conventional speakers. The HSS® emitter does not suffer from various forms of distortion caused by the mechanical elements of the speaker. The emitter can be relatively small and light, but still generates quality sound. The sound bundle does not change at a fixed distance, so HSS® emitters can be used at a concert and add sound at the same level from the front row to the rear of the space.
Probably the most important advantage of Hypersonic® sound technology is the ability to emit sound in narrow "beams" that can be focused on a specific location or individual. Anyone inside this beam can send sound, while those outside the beam, maybe just a few meters away, can hear nothing. This ability has many potential applications from highly targeted advertising to kathe troops of spatial sounds that do not require speakers or wires.
Although Hypersonic® Sound has clear potential and has been met with praise from several media, technology has a limited commercial success. The American Technology Corporation, which has developed technology and holds several related patents, originally accepted a strategy that avoided competition with the main consumer electronics companies. Instead, they tried to cut a niche where the sound was not historically used, for example in sales machines. Over time, the company focused on the production of ultrasound devices for the US Army. In 2010, Hypersonic® Sound Business started to a new corporation called parametric sound, with Woody Norris led by a new company.
