What is a de-asphalter?

De-asphalter is a piece of severe industrial equipment found in many oil refinery and fuel processing facilities. These machines are used in oil distillation, which is the process of extraction of usable oil products. A standard De-Asphalter is used to produce asphalt, which is widely used to pave roads and other surfaces around the world. These machines also produce a number of other by -products that can be used as fuel sources or lubricants.

To understand how the De-Asphalter works, it is useful to understand how the oil distillation process works. The refineries begin with the whole barrel of the process of the process known as vacuum distillation. This divides oil into many products, each with different levels of purity and contaminants. More purifying products of distillation are sent forward for further refining, where they are made for gasoline and liquid propane. Some of the multiple contaminated products such as a heavy sludge found on the barrel barrel is transported to de-asfalter for further processing.

Most de-asphalter systems around the world relies on the De-Asphalting process based on solvents. These machines consist of large metal drums filled with hydrocarbon solvent such as propane or butane. Since the by -products of vacuum distillation are stored in these drums, many natural gases inside the sludge are stored. Solid asphalins retain the firm condition and can be extracted from the machine and used to produce asphalt. The solvents of the propane or butane remain in the drum for reuse.

After removal from the De-Asphalter, the asphalted oxidation is subject to, which gives them the properties needed for use in pavement. A certain amount of waste sludge at the bottom of the De-Asphalter cannot be processed further and must be sent to the industrial LA for disposal. Reducing products produced during oxidation are separated from asphalt to become lubricantEM or grease used for machines and vehicles.

These gases and resins are subject to a process known as hydrocracking that helps to remove any remaining dirt and transform these materials into deaSphalt oil (DAO). De-asphalt Oil serves as common fuel or lamp oil and is a slightly less refined version of kerosene. The high number of impurities remaining in DAO causes it to burn quite dirty, and many of them led to the search for cleaner burning fuels.
