What is the torque limiter?

torque restriction is a mechanical device that controls how much torque the machine drive shaft is exposed to at a given time. It is a protective mechanism and its aim is to prevent the machine from suffering damage because of what is known as mechanical overload . This is a situation where too much torque is placed on the unit. For this reason, the limiter is sometimes alternately referred to as clutch overload . This can be found on anything from the propeller to the line of assembly into bottles to the fishing reel.

There are several different ways to work a torque limiter. Some disconnect the load completely when overload is detected. This species is known as disconnect types. Others simply allow the load slipping during overload, similar to the way the clutch works in the car transmission. These are known as types limiting torque. These include shear pegs, synchronous magnetic, BAWL and Paw-A spring detention. Generally speaking, the type of disconnection must be reset in some way after it intervenes during the overload. Depending on the type, this can be done automatically or manually.

Reducing the shaft peg works by inserting a small metal pin into the drive when it overloads and disconnects it forcibly. In this process, the PIN is destroyed and must be replaced before it can be reused. Shear pins are often compared to electric fuses in the sense that they are sacrificed to protect more expensive parts.

The synchronous magnet system, as its name suggests, uses a few strong magnets to quickly disconnect the shaft with a magnetic pulse. Again, like its name, the ball detention system works so that it has a series of metal balls charged with springs in the unit, which will pop up if necessary to disconnect the unit. Torque Pawly and the spring that basically uses the drive sectionAnyway arm of the Rohatka mechanism is activated if necessary, the latch drops down and catches the notch in the unit, forcing it to disconnect.

Types limiting torque that function as clutches include friction, magnetic particle and magnetic hysteresis. Unlike disconnecting types, restrictions on the torque on the basis of the clutch are not so irrevocable when using them and can be modulated when the machine is lowered. They are also less catastrophic in the sense that the system is not required after each use. Each type of torque design can be connected and disconnected in time, usually without damaging mechanical parts.
