How Do I Choose the Best Histoplasmosis Treatment?
Pulmonary histoplasmosis is a pulmonary mycosis caused by capsular histoplasma. It is prevalent in the central and southern United States. A few cases have been found in China in recent years. Changes in the lungs appear to be tuberculosis, with granuloma formation, central cheese necrosis, followed by fibrosis and calcification. A variety of tissues involving the hilum and mediastinum can be spread to organs such as the lung, liver, spleen, kidney, intestine, adrenal gland, systemic lymph nodes, brain, pericardium, and endocardium. Clinical manifestations include low fever, cough, and expectoration. X-ray showed local inflammatory infiltrates or nodules in the lungs and hilar lymphadenopathy. [1]
