What is it in art?

Mannerism is a term developed in the 20th century that describes the period of painting and architecture prominent primarily in Italy from 1520 to 1600. Stylistically, mannerism includes a number of schematic approaches to painting that aroused the rules of classical art determined during the Renaissance. Working in the style of mannerist is generally based on intellectual prejudice instead of direct visual perception. Moreover, this period is more remarkable for artificial than natural science properties of paintings. Historians of art do not agree on the definition of mannerism and continue to discuss whether the term is used for early modern poetry and music, as well as painting and architecture.

This term was probably created by Swiss historian Jacob Burckhardt and was admitted by German art historians at the dawn of the 20th century. Burckhardt tried to categorize the Italian art of the 16th century, a group of works that seemed to evolve from Styles characteristic of high renaissance. Rather than emphasize the observation of the proportionDy, artists began to prefer their own intellect, invention and technique. This was a partial result of the growing social prestige of the artistic profession.

The manneristic image is characterized by prolonged forms of characters, irrational settings and lack of perspective. Lighting in most manneristic images can be described as theatrical. Virtuoso technique created a composition of color collision; emotion; and a combination of Christian, mythological and classic topics.

Domenikos Theotocopoulos, also known for his Spanish nickname El Greco or rivers, is probably the most famous manner. After he was in Venice, he traveled to Toledo, Spain, where he stayed until his death in 1614. Another representative mannerian artist is the Italian painter Tintoretto or Jacopo Comin. His work is characterized by muscle figures that create dramatic gestures and a courageous perspective. For example, in his painting Jesus' last dinner, the tintoretto iconic table and his dinner from the center of the composition will move. He retreats back and reveals all the cacophony and movement of servers and other guests surrounding Christ and his apostles. Heaven and angels share the same space with people as they observe the scene.

When mannerism began to disappear from kindness at the end of the 16th century, it was gradually replaced by a Baroque style. The version known as northern mannerism was maintained in regions north of the Alps Well to the 17th century. Mannerism is also a general term for any idiosyncratic element of the author's style that distinguishes it.
