What Is a Hydrolase?
Hydrolases are the general name for a class of enzymes that catalyze the hydrolysis reaction (such as trypsin is a hydrolase that hydrolyzes polypeptide chains). It can also be said that they are a special class of transferases that use water as a receptor for the transferred group.
Hydrolase
- Hydrolase is catalyzed
- The hydrolase is based on "(
- Hydrolases are classified as EC3 in the EC number, and subdivided into several subclasses by the bonds they break down:
- EC3.1: Ester bond (esterase)
- EC3.2: Sugar (glycosylase)
- EC3.3: ether bond
- EC3.4: Peptide bond (peptidase)
- EC3.5: CN bond, but excluding peptide bonds
- EC3.6: acid anhydride
- EC3.7: CC key
- EC3.8: Halogen bond
- EC3.9: PN key
- EC3.10: SN key
- EC3.11: SP key
- EC3.12: SS key
- EC3.13: CS key
