What is a nerve cloak?

The nerve cloak is a type of insulation that surrounds the chain part of the nerve cell or neuron known as Axon. The function of the nerve case is to increase the ability of the neuron to transmit signals along its axon. It is made of a fabric called myelin, which is produced by glial cells and is composed of fat and protein. The loss of this myelin nerve housing, as is found in a number of diseases, including multiple sclerosis and guillain-barre syndrome, can delay the transmission of nerve signals, resulting in impaired movement, speech and cognition. Soma is the "body" of the neuron and the place where nerve signals are accepted. The protruding Soma is Axon, the chain structure of the connected "links", along the external signals sent by traveling soma. At the end of the axon are dendrites, branches similar to channels, through which the signal is finally supplied to Somas of the neighboring Neurona.

These nerve signals dictate all the movements and functions of the body,From conscious - raising your hand on the wave Hi - to unconsciousness - spends dinner. To ensure that the body is running smoothly, each nervous signal must be delivered to the appropriate body goal at incredibly fast speed. This is where the nerve cloak comes. It embraces Axon as a sleeve, which prevents signals from leakage or loss of force when moving along each axon connection and thus ensures their rapid transmission.

Myelin, from which a nerve cloak is formed, consists primarily of fat, although it also contains some protein. Myelin is made by structures known as gli cells that promote neuron formation and function. It is the pale color of myelin that gives certain organs such as the inner brain, their ashes.

6 Once the cloak is damaged or destroyed, the ability of the neuron will effectively transmit the signals. As a result, suffering from these diseases often occur symptoms such as impaired movement, speech and knowledge. Unfortunately, the body is not able to naturally replace damaged myelin. Since 2010 summerKříští scientists are working on creating a method for replacement of myelin so that diseases affecting the nerve case can be effectively treated.
