What are Some Paleozoic Animals?
The Paleozoic (PZ) symbol is one of the geological ages, starting at an isotope age of 542 ± 0.3 million years (Ma) and ending at 251 ± 0.4Ma. The Paleozoic belonged to the Phanerozoic. The previous generation was Neoproterozoic and the next generation was the Mesozoic.
- The Paleozoic era is an ancient biological age that lasts about 300 million years. This is an important time for the animal kingdom. It kicked off the Cambrian with an evolution that has not been fully explained so far. The range of Cambrian animals was limited to the ocean, but with the continuation of the Paleozoic, some animals turned to dry land. In the late Paleozoic, reptiles and mammal-like animals appeared. The Paleozoic era ended with the largest extinction known to date.
