What is mos?

Average score of opinion or MOS is a type of measurement used in various forms of voice communication. The main purpose of MOS is to evaluate the quality of human speech at the moment of ending any type of telephone connection. MOS is considered particularly useful with accurate access to the quality of the voice, which is achieved via Internet telephony, but is also used to evaluate sound quality for bridging that organizes a sound conference call.

The MOS structure is relatively simple. A simple sliding scale is used to measure the overall quality of sound intake in a given telephone environment. The scale is somewhat subjective because the selected group of listeners will also hear the reader recite a number of test sentences. Generally, sentences are presented in a male voice and then repeat by means of a female voice. Some systems use computer generated voices for reciting test sentences, but it is not uncommon for human voices to be used. The lowest score on the MO scaleS is one. One indicates the quality of bad sounds that is considered unacceptable. At the other end of the scale, the score of five is considered an excellent sound quality and is therefore highly desirable.

As soon as the test group has seen its evaluation, the score is diameter according to the number of persons included in the test group. This final value represents MOS for the current session. Whatever below three, it suggests that there are some problems with signal processing or bandwidth applied to the signal. Four or five scores are usually considered stable and in industry standards and are therefore acceptable.

Today, MOS is used to evaluate various forms of voice internet signals, inbound signals received on conference bridges and signaling on a cell or wireless network. Most voice communication service providers commonly test sound quality to differentCounter groups at the moment of termination to ensure that the provision of services will be maintained at an acceptable level.
