Suppose a return matrix is expressed as follows (for a coordination game). Here, one player selects the column and the other player selects the row. Column players get the first gain, and row players get the second. If a player is inclined to choose A 100%, he is said to be playing pure strategy. If the player is inclined to decide by tossing a coin, if the head is up, select A, if the word is up, select B, then he is said to be playing a mixed strategy instead of a pure strategy.
