What Is Servant Leadership?

Robert K. Greenleaf (1904-1990) 's servant leadership is a selfless leadership philosophy that exists in practice. Leaders of this type lead by example, and are willing to be servants to lead by service; the result of their leadership is also to extend their service functions. Servant leadership encourages cooperation, trust, foresight, listening, and the moral use of power. Servant leaders do not necessarily take formal leadership positions.
