What are the different types of active educational activities?
There are many different types of active educational activities that require students to take over a dynamic and energy role in their education. Active learning states greater responsibility to students than traditional and passive educational tasks. Some types of active educational activities that are based on practical assignments and learning based on activities include reconstruction of historical events, insect observation in their natural habitats, solving mathematical problems in the group by manipulatives and creating a presentation on fiction or literature. The purpose of many of these educational activities is for students to learn more by actively engaging in the objectives of learning for which they are responsible on the basis of the idea that the more they are obliged to communicate with information, the deeper they think and learn. Students assigned to reenact historical events may have to read primary and secondary documents from history and currentCH accounts of events, synthesize this information and then write and act in group settings. After the groups have cleaned their interpretations of the event, the class can then analyze the event more closely and could also discuss the controversial issues or positions concerning the historical event.
Scientific classes could participate in students in active educational activities, such as studying characteristics of various insects and then observing these insects, their behavior and conditions under which they naturally live. The class could learn about ants, their environment, the types of work they do, and the types of food they eat. Then they could go to the forest, find colonies of ants and observe their findings in groups. These groups could then meet, complete their observations in the forms of graphs, drawings and narration of writing, and introduce their classmates whathave learned, and the questions they still have. Subsequent activity could include a return to Ant Stations for further observations and attempts to answer the remaining questions about the life of ants.
Students in mathematical courses can participate in active educational activities such as performing a complex geometric problem, division into groups, and using manipulatives to solve the problem. Students could use manipulatives - or plastic geometric shapes - their mathematical textbooks, calculators and each other to come up with a viable solution to their problem. As soon as they solve their assigned problem, these students could introduce their work of the whole class. Such activities give students the opportunity to each other and can be more efficient than simply listening to a lecture on how to solve a similar problem. Teachers act as facilitators and coaches rather than leaders when they supervise active educational activities.
