What are Breast Self Exams?

Breast self-examination

To facilitate memory, the experts summarized four simple steps:
Look
Sagging hands in front of the mirror, carefully observe whether the sides of the breast are symmetrical in size, whether there are abnormal protrusions, whether the skin and nipples have dents or eczema.
touch
Lift the left hand to the back of the head, use your right hand to check the left breast, press the breast gently with your fingertips, and feel if there is a lump, start from the nipple to do a clockwise check in a ring, and gradually outward (about three or four circles) Until all breasts have been examined, use the same method to inspect the right breast.
Lying
Lie on your back, place a pillow under your left shoulder, bend your right hand under your head, repeat the "touch" method, and check your breasts on both sides.
screw
In addition to the breast, check for lymphadenopathy in the armpits. Finally, twist the nipple with your thumb and forefinger, paying attention to any abnormal secretions.
To check whether your breasts are healthy, we can judge them from the following aspects.
1. Skin: The color of the breast skin is normal without edema, rash, ulceration, superficial vein distension, skin wrinkles, and orange peel-like changes. [1]
If the following symptoms are found during self-examination, it is recommended to go to the hospital:
1. Changes in breast size and shape.
2. Nipple shape and position (such as
history of congenital disease;
The chest is flat and has no curve characteristics;
The palpable glandular tissue is not obvious;
Occurring on one side, left-right asymmetry;
May be accompanied by dysplasia or absence of ipsilateral pectoralis major muscle.
increase breast contents;
increase the volume;
Improve appearance;
should be mainly surgical treatment.
Cure: breasts are plump, elastic, and wounds heal well.
Improvement: The shape of the breast has basically recovered, the sides are more symmetrical, and the wound is still healing.
Unhealed: No change in breast shape.
