What are immunostimulants?

Immutimulants are substances that modules the immune system by stimulating the function of one or more components of the system. There are two types. Specific immunostimulants, such as vaccines, stimulate the immune response to one or more specific antigen types. On the other hand, non -specific immunontimulation substances have no antigenicity, but may act as general stimulants that increase the function of certain types of immune cells. Vaccines are used to stimulate protective immune responses to antigens from specific pathogens. For example, the influenza vaccine uses several antigens from different flu strains of the influenza virus. In conjunction with vaccines, people who are vaccinated before infection before these specific tribes are often used. Adjuvans are a type of non -specific immunostimulant. Adjuvans, together with the vaccine, helps create a stronger protective response to antigens in the vaccine and provides better degree of pathogen protection. One examples of adjuvans is alum that is often used in humanVaccines. The aluminum is made of aluminum salts such as aluminum hydroxide and phosphate aluminum.

Many chemicals produced by the functions of the human body as immunostimulants. Cytokines are the type of immunostimulance that are produced by the cells of the immune system and many of them have a role in increasing the immune function. In addition, it is known that some female sex hormones, as well as a factor stimulating colonies of granulocytes, prolactin and growth hormone, have immunostimulatory effects.

Several types of synthetic immunostimulant drugs have been produced. One of them is a macrocin, also known as tetrachlorodecaoxide, which has different functions. Immunostimulatory drugs such as macroly can function as adjuvans and are used to treat ulcers, diabetic leg problems and wound dressings.

Immutimulatory nutrients are substances obtained from food or medicinal plants that have a stimulaIt rises the effect on the immune system. This class of immunostimulants includes several vitamins, minerals and other types of nutrients. One of the best known is vitamin C, but although anecdotal evidence and results of some studies indicate an immunostimulatory effect, the true role of this vitamin is still not well known. However, vitamin C has been proven in at least one study to reduce the time of infection with a common cold, but the severity of symptoms is not reduced.

Beta-glucans are another type of immunontimulatory nutrients found in plants, mushrooms and bacteria. Different types of beta-glucans occur in cellulose fibers in trees and plants and can also be found in Yeasut, bacteria and fungi. Beta-glucans were tested as adjuvans in cancer therapy to get injured to prevent post-surgical infection, as a treatment of radiation exposure and in the treatment of certain types of allergy.
