What is Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (from)?
Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (Z) is a very rare condition that causes tumors and ulcers to form in the stomach and intestine. Tumors can also be formed on the liver or pancreas. Untreated, some tumors can metastasize and spread to other parts of the body. The decks are also associated with extreme stomach discomfort. Treatment can reduce discomfort and prevent tumors from spreading.
Scientists know very little about the causes of deceased. However, they know that the intention causes the intestine to produce too much acid. This in turn leads to the development of ulcers and usually there is more than one ulcer.
The symptoms of the thickens include extreme pain in the upper abdomen. Some patients describe this as a sense of burning or gnawing. Diarrhea or evidence of bleeding of black intestine movements is common. The taste tends to be influenced by significant pain and patients may lose weight quickly. The dings can also cause ongoing nausea or vomiting.
The deceit usually begins because the tumor has created. Tumor position is usually abdominal or duodenumm. Several tumors may be present and are occasionally malignant. The tumors themselves are usually formed by cells that force the body to produce other acids, sometimes called stomach juice. The acids then begin to worsen the lining of the stomach and create many small ulcers.
25% of cases of deceased occurs with a condition called more endocrine neoplasia (men), which also causes tumors on the pituitary. Men can also lead to thyroid tumors, which can cause hyperthyroid or condition of hypothyroidism.
The diagnosis is usually performed by a complete physical test, blood tests and endoscopy. In endoscopy, a small tube is inserted by mouth in the abdomen to seek the presence of ulcers and more tumors. Ultrasound can also be used to determine the location of tumors or ulishas.
often are tumors and ulcers placed on places that are difficult to remove, yet the removal of tumors is important to prevent cancer. Once tumors and ulcers are removed, the subsequent treatment consists of acid blocking medicines. However, the tumors are often repeated with this condition, so the return of significant pain in the upper abdomen can mean future surgery.
It is still difficult to heal and because it is rare, resulting in only about one of a million cases a year, it is also difficult to study. Unlike ulcers made up of bacteria, ulcers cannot be treated in cases of deceased antibiotics. Treatment is likely to include at least annual controls, so the quality of life can be somewhat affected. Newer and stronger antacid drugs, however, have improved the quality of life significantly for those.
