What is ITIL® V3?
ITIL® V3 is an abbreviation for information technology infrastructure, version 3. ITIL® is a registered trademark of the United Kingdom Government Trade Office (OGC). The service management approach was then improved and developed from 1996 to 1998, resulting in nine separate volumes covering various aspects of IT services management, including such subjects such as assets, change control, disaster planning and financial management. ITIL® Version 3, released in 2007, differs from earlier versions in its focus on the entire life cycle of service management, rather than purely emphasizing the proven practice of Approaches for individual elements for providing IT services.
ITIL® V3 consists of fiveThe main volumes: Services strategy, service proposal, services, service operation and continuous improvement of services. The final book is often considered the peak of the ITIL® V3 and focuses mainly on improving business processes across all areas covered in the first four volumes in the series. The goals of the continuous improvement module include improving the quality and efficiency of services, finding ways to work smarter within the existing IT services and to better satisfy the needs of the client or end user of the IT system or service that is supplied.
