What Is Keratomileusis?
LASIK (in-situ keratomileusis, abbreviated as IK) is an ultra-precise automatic corneal laparotomy to cut the superficial cornea into a thin corneal flap. After opening, under the control of the computer, excimer laser is used to deepen the deep layer. The corneal tissue is cut, and the corneal flap is reduced. LASIK surgery preserves the integrity of the corneal epithelium and anterior elastic layer, and avoids corneal hyperplasia and corneal haze after PRK surgery.
