What is logotherapy?

logotherapy is a form of existentialist analysis created by psychiatrist Viktor Frankl in the mid -30s. It focuses on the belief that searching for meaning is the only driving force in a person's life, and assumes that each individual has resources at their disposal to deal with any situation. Logotherapy helps a person in finding these resources hidden in themselves. The word logotherapy comes from the Greek word logos , which literally means "meaning".

Logotherapy is the third Viennese School of Psychotherapy. The first school is the psychoanalysis of Sigmund Freud and the second school is the individual psychology of Alfred Adler. Frankl was a student of these schools before creating logotherapy and published articles in Freud and Adler's magazines.

There are nineteen principles of logotherapy and all support personal growth and understanding. Three basic points are "Life makes sense in all circumstances" "We have the freedom to find meaning," and "The will to meaning is our main motivation." About these primaThe other 16 principles are expanding. This applies to everything, including attitudes, art, nature, relationships, hobbies and commitments. Seemingly insignificant situations are another chance to find a hidden meaning to which it can grow. Each person is unique and attitudes and attitudes biased towards different scenarios are something to learn.

Freedom to find meaning means that no matter what happens, we have the power to deduce what is happening, why this is happening, and why we show certain reactions to the situation. This does not indicate true freedom from physical or psychological restrictions, but to understand freedom. People with neuroses and other diseases are born with tools to find these meanings, but have difficulty finding resources that would do it in themselves.

The third base point is based on the main questions in life. "Why are we here?" "Is God there?" and similar questions that are morghing individuals are the driving silo in lifeu. Searching to answer these questions is what motivates us to constantly life, not searching for pleasure or material goods. Logotherapy warns that hedonism and materialism are paths to an empty life, while discovering the meaning of life is the way to fulfilling existence.

Viktor Frankl personally tested logotherapy when he was taken to the Nazi concentration camp in World War II. He found that those who survived focus on the future and importance of life outside concentration camps. Many believe that Frankl's triumphs over unimaginable psychological suffering show the value of logotherapy. Frankl said, "Logotherapy focuses on phusette, that is, the meanings that are to be met in the future." By diagnosing his own existence and meaning the circumstances in which he was able to prevent the trauma from preventing him and preventing him from giving up hope.
