What Is Poetry Therapy?
Poetry therapy refers to psychotherapy. Poetry is used as a tool to convey emotions and promote the recovery and development of patients. The therapist chooses poems that are the same or similar to the patient's state of mind, and encourages the patient to listen or read, to resonate with them to release the depressed emotions and realize their problems. Patients can also be encouraged to write poems themselves and express their feelings freely. The healers can also find the crux of the patient. There is no special requirement for the quality of poetry, and the key focus is on the emotions aroused when patients read or write poetry. The therapy is suitable for patients with neurosis, psychosis, drug addiction and alcohol addiction. Commonly used in group therapy, can also be used as an adjunct to individual treatment. [1]
