What are pop rocks®?
Pop Rocks®, called space dust in the UK, is a very unique carbonated confectionery. Pop Rocks® popularity went through maxima and minimum, depending on popular opinion, marketing and urban legends.
In 1956, William A. Mitchell, a chemist with General Foods, patented the idea of a dyed candy. Candy, however, was not available to the public until 1975. Pop Rocks® were created with sugar, corn syrup, flavors and lactose, among other things. The ingredients are mixed and heated, causing melting the mixture. The molten mixture is then exposed to carbon dioxide gas below £ 600 per square inch of pressure and cools. The bubbles were then trapped inside the candy under high pressure and can be seen under the magnifying glass. New experience attracts many POP Rocks® consumers, although it might be surprising and worrying if you weren't ready for what would happen in your mouth!
In 1983, General Foods was dragged. This could have been caused by an urban legend that many readers of a certain generation will remember. The legends that have been handed over and spread rapidly included the expected death of "Mikey" from popular cereal advertising. Mikey was reportedly ate Pop Rocks® while drinking soda, causing his stomach to explode. Although General Foods has not saved any cost to be said badly, and the actor is still alive and well, Pop Rocks® has disappeared from the shelves for several years.
Fortunately, for fans of carbonated confectionery, the rights to the candies were bought by Kraft Foods, who returned her back to the shops. It sells Kraft as Action Candy®, Poprocks® is again available under their original name. Pop Rocks® Chewing Gum is now available, as well as Pop Rocks® chocolate rod.Dr. Marvin Rudolph, one of the people involved in the first years of Pop Rocks® Manufacturing, wrote a book in 2006 called Pop Rocks®: The Inside StorY of America's Revolution Candy.
