What Is a Ryanodine Receptor?

The Ryanodine receptor (RyR receptor) is a calcium release channel present in the endoplasmic reticulum / sarcoplasmic reticulum (ER / SR). It can quickly release Ca2 + from ER / SR, thereby exerting a series of physiological functions. Ryanodine receptors also play an important role in maintaining intracellular calcium balance.
