What is an amino acid peptide?

Amino acid peptide is a molecule that contains a short chain of amino acids connected by peptide bonds. These molecules have the same basic structure as proteins, but there is one specific difference between them. The characteristic that distinguishes protein from the amino acid peptide is the number of amino acids that are connected to form a molecule. In general, if there is less than 50 amino acids in the chain, then it is considered an amino acid peptide. Peptide bonds are an example of covalent bonds that are formed when electrons are shared between two different atoms.
