What is liquefied natural gas?

spoiled natural gas (LNG) is a natural gas that has been converted into liquid. This process is carried out because the substance is more easily transported or stored in liquid form than in a gaseous form. Natural gas is converted into liquefied natural gas in a process that includes removal of contaminants followed by cooling. The liquefaction process is performed in a plant that contains process machines known as the LNG train. One plant usually contains multiple LNG trains, each able to carry out all the steps associated with the transformation of natural gas into liquid.

natural gas consists mainly of methane, but also contains small traces of carbon dioxide, water, mercury and hydrogen sulphide, as well as dust and other organic compounds. All these contaminants must be removed to convert gas into liquid because they complicate the liquefaction process.

After removal of contaminants, the gas is gradually cooled into the liquid. At -260 degrees Fahrenheit (-126.6 degrees Celsius), gas condenses to liquefya natural gas. At this temperature, the liquid is condensed up to approximately 1/600. gas volume. This significant volume reduction means that it is much more efficient to transport gas when it is in liquid form. This is especially true in places where the gas pipeline nets are not introduced.

The term cryogenic concerns the fact that these blood vessels are equipped to maintain the temperature that maintains the gas liquid. Ships that transport liquefied gas are built with double hulls to reduce the risk of damage to the fuselage, which could cause leakage. Ships dock at LNG terminals, which were specially built to deal with liquefied natural gas-coincidence vessels. One of the most powerful is that a large amount of carbon dioxide is released when the natural gas is extracted and when it is converted into liquid. LNG plants also release nitrogen oxide and air particles that worsen symptoms of respiratory diseases such as asthma and bronchitis.

Another problem is that natural gas is flammable, even if it is in liquid form. The liquid itself cannot burn itself, but if the liquid begins to evaporate and mix with the air, the resulting gas is flammable. Although there was never a serious LNG accident on board the transport ship, there were a number of accidents in LNG races, even in the United States and Algeria. Many such accidents occur due to explosion gas or liquid gas that evaporates during the transfer process.
