Primatology (English: Primatology ) is a discipline that studies primates. It belongs to the branch of physical anthropology. The scope of research includes the evolution, genetics, and behavior of primates, while the objects of study include primate species such as proto monkeys, new world monkeys, old world monkeys, and apes. Primate zoology is an emerging discipline that originated in the 1920s.
