Labor immigration
- The number of domestic immigrants moving to cities and suburban areas has increased since 1999. This is mainly due to the severe winter coldness that has caused herders to lose tens of millions of livestock, leaving many households that depend on animal husbandry to lose their income. Most of the migrants went to Ulaanbaatar. By the beginning of the 21st century, the city had gathered half of Mongolia's population.
- Domestic immigrants usually have little education and no professional skills. On the other hand, most of the immigrants from Mongolia to other countries are young people, have good education, have the necessary skills, and expect to find better jobs and development opportunities in foreign countries.
